Cigar Reviews
Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata
Another blistering 100+ degree day here in El Paso while I hang out in the yard with a Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata.

The Good Stuff:
The Serie M was originally released in 2021. At the time, it was the first time that Cohiba had ever manufactured a cigar in the U.S. Created at the El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami, Florida, each Serie M release since has been created at the same factory. The Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata starts out with a Mexican San Andres wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The cigar is released in a single 6 x 52 toro format, packaged in boxes of 10 and limited to only 3,000 boxes being produced, each cigar runs $29.99.

Prelight:
The Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata starts out with a very dark, very rustic looking brown wrapper. There are lots of areas of darker and lighter areas especially around any of the veining of the wrapper leaf. The wrapper’s texture is very, very toothy and gritty and all around rough in all areas. There are a few very large veins running through the wrapper’s leaf which is typical with Mexican San Andres tobacco. The foot is covered by the folded wrapper as it leads up to a very small, stubby pig-tail-style cap. The cigar is polished off with the common Serie M gold band we are used to however the backing color is now gray with an added “2026 Reserva Plata” secondary gold band.

The cap cut clean and easily using my Xikar XO double bladed cutter. The wrapper on the cigar some really bold floral and spice aromas, while the foot is mostly the same since the wrapper is covering it. The cold draw on the Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata provides a unique mixture of cognac and woodys flavors.

First Third:
The Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata starts out with blast of black pepper that caught me off guard. After the initial blast it took a few draws before the pepper stepped back and allowed the cigar to release bold fruity notes of black cherry and plum over some great floral and cognac flavors, loads of woodsy flavors and some awesome sweetness and spice. It’s a pretty complex flavor profile right off the bat. The draw is perfect and each little puff kicks out massive clouds of thick, white smoke which dissipates quickly as the cigar releases only very minor stationary smoke while it rests in my ashtray. The burnline is mostly even, and razor thing leaving behind a tightly trail of white ash which held on for about a inch before giving way.

Second Third:
Into the second third of the Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata and the flavor profile has changed up pretty drastically. Now a dark chocolate that wasn’t very prominent in the first third is now leading the charge backed by some great sweetness and spice, loads of woodsy flavor and some lighter floral and cognac flavors. The retrohale brings out a lot more sharp spice that I don’t really get in the standard experience. The burnline is still rocking pretty even and I close out the second third with little to no nicotine.

Finish:
The final third of the Cohiba Serie M Reserva Plata’s flavor profile is pretty consistent with the second. Loads of dark chocolate, wood, cognac, and some light floral flavors and sweetness. It took me about an hour and a half to smoke this down to the nub. There was no harshness, no extra heat and no sap. The construction was flawless from start to finish and left me with very little nicotine kick at all.

Overview:
I always look forward to each of Cohiba’s Serie M releases and this year not only met the mark, but in my opinion has been one of the better releases. The Mexican San Andres is a departure from what I expect to see from El Titan De Bronze and it did not disappoint. The flavor profile is complex, full, and delicious. The construction was flawless as we expect from that factory, and the overall experience was just awesome. My only gripe of course it the price. This is an expensive cigar but one that would serve as a perfect celebratory cigar for any special occasion and one I will keep on hand for many of mine.
