Even after considering all the above factors, sometimes I STILL don’t know what to smoke. In that case, I’ll make a totally arbitrary decision. If I don’t know what it is, I’ll grab a second stick I KNOW I like as a backup. More often than not, I wind up filing that backup stick back in my humidor.

Well done, every smart tobacconist will post this so they and their staffs remember how to guide uncertain smokers.

I think you covered all the bases but would add one idea and that is for a newer cigar lover to keep a brief note about cigars they liked along with the band. Maybe consult Perelman’s Encyclopedia about the ones they like to increase their knowledge and likely hood of continued good choices.
