Loved the joint review guys, thanks! Dalamscius, if you come to the Big Island of Hawaii , let's go diving! I've been an Instructor here for 23 years. I'm going to Germany in Sept, so of course will have some Monto #2 that I usually do along with some good German Beer!

Hey Roger,

we're considering it for our honeymoon so you never know! Must be some gorgeous diving out there... I just do my best to enjoy the freezing cold water but amazing shipwrecks over here.

Enjoy your trip to Germany, they have some kick-ass beer!

Thanks for the comment Mark. I agree that Cuban's have been fighting a losing battle with regards to construction. If you can find a box date of 2008 or 2007 I find them to be much more consistent than the newer ones. Problem is that most places will charge a premium for boxes aged that long...

The no. 2 is one of my favourite Montecristo's and one of my favourite Cuban sticks overall. I haven't found any persistent burn problems in the sticks I've had but quality of rolling continues to be a problem with the Cuban cigars.

Good review guys.

I agree with Daniel's final thoughts. I love this cigar and think there is something to be said for taking your time and letting the cigar come to you.....sometimes. This cigar is one of those times. If you tear through it, its nuances get passed over. The cedar flavor is HUGE and I didn't appreciate that at first. I do now, I love what you both drank with it the Dogfish is one of my favorites. The tawny port is probably the better pairing because like the cigar you gotta sip it and savor it. I love the dual review. Keep them coming guys!

Montecristoes always look tasty in the store, and I never buy them. I have heard good things about the whites. Nice review. Someday maybe I will travel somewhere that has Habana smokes available. Hopefully I have the $$$. Thanks Guys!

I was on a reviewing panal that included this cigar on http://www.cigarnexus.com very early in my smoking career (1996). I got a lot of crap because I trashed it, when, in retrospect, it was a combination of my lack of experience and having been ill that biased my review. I have since smoked and enjoyed these. I enjoyed the joint review, it points out what is subjective and objective in a lot of ways. Nice job!

Thanks for the comments guys, this was definitely fun to see how it turned out!

Tadd, I've had a few of the non-Cuban Monte's and they definitely haven't lived up to the name for me, not even the whites. The Cuban's on the other hand are good smokes, even though most of them have the same flavor profile. Definitely give this No. 2 and the No. 4 a try if you ever can.

I like the tag team review. Funny how two people smoking the same cigar can get so many similarities & some many differences. Still haven't tried the Monte #2 but it is on my list of Cubans to try in the near future.

Great job guys!
