Shipping / Unboxing:

The Newair NGH500GA00 actually came shipped within its retail box directly. It’s a small machine and doesn’t really need the extra packaging as some of the other items I have received from them. The box was shipped via Fedex as usual, and arrived 2 business days after my order was placed.

Inside the box is various foam inserts surrounding the heater and its components. They’re thick and beefy so there isn’t really a way for the machine to get damaged unless someone with a brick strapped to their foot played soccer with the box. Inside the box is the heater, wrapped in plastic, various mounting arms, the remote, and a few screws to attach the mounts.

Setup / Product Quality:

Setting up the NGH500GA00 Garage Heater is as straight forward as it gets. The machine comes with two different brackets so that you can decide if you want to hang it from a ceiling, a wall, or leave it freestanding. In my case, I am using this on my 400 sq ft semi-enclosed patio so I will be going with the free-standing option and won’t be using the brackets at all.

Now, here is a VERY important detail. The plus requires a 240 volt outlet and that’s not something a lot of houses have. In my case, I was not only lucky enough to have access to a single 240 outlet, but it was actually located near my outdoor power box on the side of the house. We had our electrical panel updated a few years ago when we installed refrigerated air conditioning and there is a junction box they added that has a few amenities such as a 240v outlet housed within it. I did however have to purchase a pretty long extension cord and this particular one isn’t cheap. Just something to make sure you consider before purchasing this machine.

Outside of plugging the Newair NGH500GA00 in, all you have to do is turn it on and start feeling the warmth! There are a few functionality details, however I’ll tackle those in the next section.

Settings/Features:

There are really only a few settings on the Newair NGH500GA00 Garage heater making it very simple to use. There is a temperature setting: You enable this by clicking the green button twice and then adjusting the desired temperature up or down. You can set the thermostat as high as 99, however I don’t think it will actually be able to raise the temperatures that high unless you’re in a tiny room. Clicking the green button three times brings up a timer which is great if you’re like me and forgot to turn things off. There is also a setting for Low and High. This really only affects the energy usage and not the as much the speed of the fan. I did notice a big difference between the two, however I also noticed that when running the machine on high for long periods of time it tends to shut down every few minutes before powering back up.

The Newair NGH500GA00 also comes with a remote, which in my case was extremely helpful as I tend to sit and relax outside with my feet up watching TV, smoking a cigar, and enjoying a drink. No one wants to get up and adjust anything while they are in that level of comfort. The remote offers the same adjustability as the machine itself.

Heating Quality:

So, I will be honest here. I didn’t go in here expecting this heater to really make too much of a dent in my ambient temps. Sure, my patio is semi-enclosed but it’s also cold, the unit is small, it’s electric, and it’s a decent sized area (400 sq ft). Before I turned on the machine I went ahead and took the ambient temperature using an external themometer which came in at 49 degrees, too cold to enjoy my patio comfortably.

I fired up the Newair NGH500GA00 Garage heater and let it do its thing. It’s directional so I had it pointed near the area I was sitting about 20 feet or so away. I noticed the heat drop almost instantly. Again, it’s directional so there wasn’t a huge surprise there. After about 20 minutes I was shocked to see that the heat in my area was a rocking 73 degrees.

While I had the unit set to 85 the temperature in my area never reached higher than 74 degrees. While that’s impressive what really caught me off guard is that a majority of my patio was in between 60 – 70 degrees. This machine actually does a brilliant job at moving heat around the room. Note: the areas around the exposed walls were obviously still cold as drafts can make their way in.

Final Thoughts

The Newair NGH500GA00 Garage Heater is a great little machine that gets the job done. It’s not going to be the end-all indoor garage heater, but if you aren’t in sub 30 degree weather, don’t have a massive space you need cooled, and are on a budget this machine would fit your needs perfectly. It does a great job warming up a small garage or enclosure, is portable and movable, and won’t break the bank.

Shipping / Box Opening:

As always, Newair ships quick. The AI-100R Ice maker showed up at my door via FedEx 3 days after my order was placed. The box is very thick and showed no signs of damage from the outside.

Inside the box the ice maker is surrounded completely with a layer of thin plastic wrap to avoid any scratching, then a layer of very thick foam, as well as plastic corner supports on all 8 corners.

The Ice Maker slides right out of the package and showed no signs of scratching or damage. One thing Newair has always done is made sure their products are shipped in the best possible way.

The exterior paint is just incredible looking with a candy-apple-red with an awesome light flake metallic in it. One thing I noted right way is that there is some yellow discoloration on the top part of the inside lid. It doesn’t make a difference to me and didn’t wipe away with cleaner. But it’s worth noting that it was there:

Setup / Product Quality:

There are a few areas of tape that needs to be removed to allow the machine to be opened. Inside you will find the removable basket and the included ice scoop.

Once you completed taking all the packing components off the machine, place it on the counter of choice. One thing to note is that there is a very large exhaust fan on the left side of the machine that you want to make sure has ample room to breath as this fan is in charge of removing all the heat from the inner-workings of the machine and expelling it into the open air.

After placement, simply plug the machine in, fill it with water and hit the power button. Within a few seconds the machine fires up and starts its freezing process. One thing I want to note here is just how quiet this machine is in comparison to others I have used. The water pump is extremely quiet and very quick while the actual freezing process gives of no audible noise at all outside of the quiet exhaust fan.

Settings / Features:

There isn’t a lot to tell here. The Newair AI-100r ice maker has only a few settings to it making it extremely easy to use. Outside of the power button there are 3 main size settings. These allow you to set the desired size of your ice nuggets and not a feature that I find on my ice makers. There are three settings: small, medium and large. A green LED light indicates which selection you have enabled. The results are basically ice cubes that are similar in size, except the density of the walls.

There is also two convenience features added that will make your ice making procedures even easier. There are two red LED lights that indicate when the ice maker is full, and one that will light up when the machine needs more water to create ice. Both make operating this machine even easier.

There is also a convenient little drain on the bottom left of the machine. If you need to clean it or power it down and still have water in the reservoir you can easily pop the drain open to remove the excess water. You can see the drain in one of the photos earlier in the review.

Ice Quantity:

First, let me touch on how this thing works. First, there is a pump at the bottom which takes in the water from the inside of the machine and moves it to a tray at the top of the machine that is hardly visible without looking underneath the lid. There are 9 freezing rods inside that tray which transform the water around them to ice. Depending on your size setting the machine decides when the ice is at the size needed an kicks it out into the tray below before starting the process all over again. For size reference, the image below is on the “Small” setting.

As for the quantity, I decided to start this machine off warm. That means, it has been disconnected for longer than 24 hours and freshly filled. This way I can get a full idea of what it’s capable of without the cooling rods being pre-chilled. The image below shows just how much ice this machine developed over a 1 hour test at the “Large” setting. Honestly the quality of ice produced is quite impressive and the AI-100r is probably the fasted ice-creating machine I currently own.

Ice Quality:

There isn’t too much to say here. The ice is thick and heavy. While some machines create softer ice, this machine specializes in very dense, hard ice which tends to last longer in drinks. The ice is not very clear at all which doesn’t bother me. I just know its work mentioning as some people really enjoy the look of clear ice. The image below is at the “Large” setting.

Final Thoughts:

The Newair AI-100r is a great machine if you are looking for an ice maker that can create large ice cubes at a very high rate. If you are looking for something to host a small get together, or just be sure to not run low on your drink-cooling measures, this is a perfect machine. I also need to note how quiet it is without harping on it too much. Other machines I have used can be a bit distracting. The only faults I see here is the discoloration in the plastic and the color of the ice, which let’s be honest, isn’t much of a downfall at all.

Shipping/Unboxing:

Shipping on the BODEGAcooler car cooler was super quick. Delivered right to my door via UPS about 4 days after order was placed. The unit comes packaged in a thick, cardboard box with description, handling instructions, and images of the product printed on it.

After opening the box the cooler itself is wrapped in plastic and carefully placed in packing foam which covers all sides of the unit.

Each of the movable elements are taped closed and the manual, shoulder strap, and cable are all packed up and placed within the unit itself.

Setup:

Setting up the BODEGAcooler car cooler is just as easy as it was to take it out of the box. First, take all the contents from the cooler. Next, there is a note that instructs the user to make sure the cooler is kept upright for at least 6 hours before use. So let that unit sit so that the refrigerant and all its components can settle. After that, find the spot you want to set this up within your vehicle. I chose my back seat.

After that’s settled find your 12V outlet and run the power cord from the outlet to the front of the unit. A HUGE shoutout here to BODEGAcooler as the power cable is actually long enough to stretch from the front of just about any vehicle to the far back which would include even 3-level-seating SUVS.

Once you’re plugged in all you need to do is hit that power button and off you go! Note, you can also adjust the cooling setting to your desired temperate. I will touch a bit on that later in the cooling section.

Storage:

For what it’s worth, the BODEGAcooler had way more storage than I expected. Not only did they take advantage of every inch of the width of the cooler, but it’s as deep as you can get while still being comfortable enough to place your arm on. For reference sake, I was able to fit 18 x 12oz beer cans in the main compartment (2 stacks of nine). Add the front compartment and this cooler comfortable fits a total of 20 x 12oz cans. Note, this is also the storage capacity I do my testing with.

Cooling:

I went into the cooling functionality of this machine as a skeptic. Let’s see how it shakes out. First, as noted above, I testing this with a full load of 20 x 12oz cans. For the test, the ambient temperature in the car is 90 degrees while the cooler is set at 35 degrees. The internal temperature was measured at 74 at the start of the test. What I really wanted to know is how fast this cooler cools. After about 15 minutes I measured the internal temperature at a whopping 45 degrees. I let this sit for 15 more minutes and the cooler had successfully hit 35 degrees, and in fact read at 33 degrees. I also wanted to test the fluctuations over the course of 30 minutes. While the unit was set at 35, the unit would fluctuate its internal temperature between 33 and 37 which is a perfectly successful range. Honestly, I am impressed that such a small machine could cool so effectively.

Features/Convenience:

So the BODEGAcooler gets big marks in the cooling department. Let’s see how the features shake out. First, the panel on the top allows you to turn the machine on and off, as well as set the cooling temperature for the unit. The unit allows you to set anywhere between -4 and 68 degrees which is a massive range.

Once you open the cooler there is a small LED interior light that allows you to view the contents of the cooler with ease. There is also a chair that doesn’t allow the lid to open too far which is ideal for those using this in the front seat. The top of the cooler has a gripped texture so that you can place items on top, or rest your arm in it comfortably.

One last item is to make sure you consider the intake and exhaust fan for the cooling unit into consideration as you don’t want to cover either up. There is a large fan on the front of the unit and fans on the front of either side.

Overview:

The BODEGAcooler car cooler is a great little machine for your next road trip. The fact that you can actually add a battery to this machine also makes it the idea unit for those road trips that lead to camping or picnics. The cooling stands out as the most impressive while the machine also adds to the usability with its convenient features and workmanship. Shipping/Unboxing:

My order was placed on the Newair site on the 30th, my unit shipped the next day, and two days later it landed on my doorstep. I spoke about this before but Newair uses Fedex to transit their packages which normally works out best for me as they have the best delivery service in my area. This time the outer box did come with a bit of damage as you will see below, however due to the layers of protective packaging this did not affect the machine at all. My pup Charlie helped me get this one outside one again.

As I stated above, once you remove the yellow plastic straps there you can remove the outer cardboard layer and you’ll find another, much thicker cardboard container strapped in.

Now finally once you get through that cardboard and the thick foam packing within it you are greeted with the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner and Heater which comes wrapped in a protective plastic bag. Just a note, this sucker is HEAVY. you may need a bit of help removing it from the bottom tray.

Setup:

Once you, and possibly a friend lift the heavy machine out of the foam padding you are ready to setup the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner and Heater. First, you need to decide where you are going to use it. Since I was setting it up in my covered patio I didn’t need to worry about the included trim piece that comes with the machine which holds the exhaust tube in a window to expel heat. I did however add the exhaust tubing to the back of the machine and positioned it so that the tube would kick all the heat generated from the machine out of the side of my patio covering. The machine also comes with two replaceable filters which helps trap dust, pet dander, and pollen to keep the air flowing as clean as possible. There were two filters included which simple slide into the panels on the right side of the machine as show below.

The next step is getting power to the machine. I used a heavy duty electrical extension cord plugged directly into a wall socket. This part is important as I first tried it connected to a surge protector and after a few minutes of running it flipped the safety mechanism as this machine requires a ton of power. Please take note as this means you need to be very careful with making sure you connect it to power in the safest way possible. Once you get that connected you’re pretty much ready to fire it up. There is a Power button on the top of the control panel. Once you hit that you can adjust any of the other settings. Since I’m testing the cooling first I set the “Mode” setting to “Cool”, I set the fan to “High”, then I set the desired temperature and was ready to rock.

Heating/Cooling:

We’ll start with the cooling here and in all transparency, we’ll spend most of our time there. Again, it’s 100 degrees outside so the heating just isn’t something that I need more of at this point, however I did test it out. First of all, a note. This is a loud machine, and rightfully so. It’s not a small window air conditioner, this thing can cool a very large area very quickly. Just expect that. The cooling takes a few minutes to kick in as the condenser needs to do it thing, but once it does you instantly feel the freezing cold air. I was absolutely impressed with not only the amount of air that comes out of it but also the temperature. Before firing up the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner and Heater I took an ambient air reading of 94 on my patio. After running the machine for about 20 minutes that temperature dropped to a whopping 79 degrees.

This is a VERY impressive cooling machine. However that does come with a caveat. While it does cool quickly, being placed outside isn’t the ideal location for it since the ambient temperature is so hot the cooling will shut off every 20 minutes or so to give the condenser time to cool down while the fan will still run. This isn’t that big of a deal until about an hour or so later when I realized the cooling would only run for about 15 minutes and then need to rest for about 20. The temperature did remain quite a bit cooler than before, but that came at the cost of exhausting the machine since it was so damn hot outside.

For reference, I moved this inside and put this in my main living room which is about 400 sqft. At that time the ambient temperature was 82. Within minutes the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner cooled the room down to my desired 76. Being that the machine was inside and out of the heat the only time the condenser would power down was when the machine would rest since the ambient temperature reached my desired range.

For the heating, it’s a bit hard to test since the temperatures were so high. What I did was I let the machine first cool the same living room down to 67 degrees. I then fired up the heating option and let it run to see how quickly it warmed up the room. The heating actually worked much quicker than the already quick cooling option as the ambient temperature hit 85 within about 15 minutes. This is hardly a test as I am sure the natural heat helped a lot with that, however the machine did feel like it put out a whole mess of heat, very quickly.

Features:

First let’s talk about the settings the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner has to offer. There are four total modes: Auto which swaps between heat and cool automatically depending on the desired temperature you want to reach. Cool, Heat, and just a simple Fan mode. The machine also features some great comfort/safely features such as a timer option which will allow you to set the number of hours you want the machine to run from 1 to 24. There is also a cool sleep function that will increase or decrease (depending on if you have it set to cooling or heating) the temperature every hour.

The Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner also comes with a handy remote which features a LCD screen which syncs with the information pulled from the machine so that you can adjust any setting on the control panel from across the room.

Another added feature is the water collection tank. When cooling is activated the condenser can build up ice and moisture which would normally just leak on the floor. On this unit there is a removable tank which will collect the moisture automatically. Once full the machine will shut off and warn you that you need to empty the tank via a light on the top of the control panel. There is also the option to connect a standard hose to the back of the machine to bypass the tank and kick the water out of the hose.

Before I forget, one small, but VERY useful feature is that the Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner is on wheels! It’s such a heavy machine but moving it around the house is made easy with the four wheels located at the bottom.

Overview:

The Newair AC-14100H Portable Air Conditioner is a powerful machine. It’s convenient, loaded with features, powerful and works extremely well. The only real issue I faced was the condenser issue when the ambient temperature was too hot for the machine to handle. That’s expected, however I was hoping that it would be a bit more steady. However if you are using this inside a house you have nothing to worry about at all as its more then capable of cooling entire rooms instantly. We’ll see how it performs during the winter.

Shipping/Unboxing

As usual, shipping from Newair was cake. My order was placed at about 4pm in the evening and my order shockingly shipped later that evening. Newair uses FEDEX, which in my experience is the best carrier for my location. Not only does it only take 2 days to get here from California, but FEDEX is usually the most careful with my shipments. The box came with very little damage outside of a few common dings. My little pup Charlie helped me with the unboxing process.

Inside the box each item was packaged in its own plastic wrap separated by cardboard so that they couldn’t scratch or damage each other during shipping. All cables were wrapped carefully and each item had a good amount of foam sheeting surrounding it. The box was actually way smaller than expected and was easily discarded.

Setup:

Setting up the NewAir misting fan was a breeze (puts on sunglasses and fades into the horizon). The instructions are very straight forward. Basically there is about 5 layers of the fan that you screw in order. Each has a screw that mounts it together and each only go one way so there isn’t really a way that you can do it incorrectly. The fan slides into the post which fits perfectly in the base and is then all tightened together. Once it’s all setup you can take it and place it where you want it to start cooling. In my case, my back patio.

The next step is actually just getting it all plugged in. First is the standard electrical outlet. Just plug that in and the fan portion is good to go! You can stop there and simply use this as an outdoor fan or you can go full-on and get the misting portion setup. To do this all you do is simply run the garden hose to the water line connected to the fan, turn on the hose, then open the faucet on the fan’s water line. One notE is that the water inlet hose can be opened and closed, and in my experience had absolutely no leaks which is a huge plus.

Cooling/Misting:

The Newair patio misting fan has the ability to have the fan set to three different settings. High, medium, and low. I found that even at the fan’s lowest setting the fan kicked out an adequete amount of air for my rather large patio. This fan is incredible powerful for how small it seems.

Now if the fan portion wasn’t already a huge win for the Newair misting fan, the misting portion is a monster. You can see in the images below that this fan kicks out HUGE amounts of mist. So much so that it almost immediately dampened the entire area around it. This is great for cooling and in my case when measured, the ambient temperature of my patio was 91 degrees before turning on the misting fan, using 2 different digital thermometers the patio temperate dropped to 79 degrees after running the fan for about half an hour.

While the cooling on this thing is insane, it doesn’t come without issues. The main one being how damp everything gets. I know, I know, that’s the whole point. However, things get REALLY damp and there isn’t a way to control how much mist is coming out. That would make this fan perfect. The water inlet has a ball-faucet which I thought may be able to be adjusted to allow for less mist. However, its basically a shut off and on.

Despite the way it looks I wasn’t able to get the misters on low. They’d just shut off. If this could be fixed this would be the perfect fan.

Features:

First thing you’ll notice is that the fan actually has built in surge protection which is huge when dealing with any electric components that come in close contact with water.

The built in oscillation on the Newair misting outdoor patio fan is god-sent. The oscillation range is huge and it really helps cool down the entire patio and not just the direct area.

And let’s revisit the misting. Again, it would be amazing if we could adjust the level a bit more, however for the hot summers like we get here, having the fan mists on full blast definitely help cool the air as they kick out a ton of water.

Overview

Strictly put, the Newair FMF2K5BK00 Outdoor Misting Fan is a little beast. A little beat whose sole job is to keep you, your family, and friends cool during the summer months under your patio. And the fan does an excellent job at that. While it does have a few small quirks, the cooling power and ease of use for this product outweighs any of those quirks easily. This is a great addition to my summer patio setup and something I look forward to using for years to come.

Shipping / Unboxing

Newair uses FEDEX to ship which has always been my favorite carrier due to how well they treat packages. The NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler landed within 3 days of my order being placed. The box arrived intact with only a few dents on the outer cardboard. This machine is heavy at 102 pounds. Just a warning there as the dolly was a lot of help transporting this cooler to my backyard where I decided to place it.

The box itself has 2 white, plastic straps holding it together. Once you slice these open you can lift the top of the box directly off of the cooler itself as the cooler sites on the bottom of the unattached portion of the box. This is a huge convenience as other machines I have purchased in the past require you to actually life the machine out of the box to deploy. The cardboard box has a full layer of thick, white foam inside which keeps the cooler free of dents and dings. Under the foam is a layer of foam, tissue-like paper which protects the machine from scratches. There was also a handful of taped area to make sure that the door doesn’t open during shipment. After removing that it was a matter of sliding the machine off the bottom portion of the box and positioning it where I want it. This particular cooler is the first one I have received that actually has wheels at the bottom making it extremely easy to move around and position wherever you need to.

Setup

One thing I love about Newair is how easy they are to setup. In the case of the NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler it took no longer than 5 minutes. After positioning the cooler where I wanted it, I opened the front of the cooler to reveal the drawers. There is a strap that is attached to the topmost and bottommost shelves to keep them from moving around during shipment. Once removed everything is free. The next step was to remove the instruction manuals and keys. I then closed up the cooler, removed the electric chord from the back of the machine and plugged it in.

One Note: The cooling mechanism is located on the back, bottom of the cooler. This is important to note as you need to make sure you leave enough room behind the bottom of the machine for sufficient airflow. In most cases, this won’t be a big deal at all. Its just worth mentioning as other machines often have the cooling vents towards the bottom from of the cooler. After that it’s as simple as setting your desired cooling temperature and then loading it up!

Storage

The Newair NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler states that it has an internal volume of 6.11 ft³. What that translates to is enough capacity to hold 62 bottles of wine. I decided to measure that to see just how many I could fit. There are a total of 10 shelves, 8 being full-depth while the bottom two are a little shorter to make room for the cooling element. On the full shelves I was able to fit 4 bottles of wine side by side with another two bottles of wine on the same shelf positioned horizontally in front. Since the bottom two shelfs are shorter, I was only able to fit 4 bottles side by side. That makes 6 bottles of wine on each bigger shelf and 4 bottles on the bottom to for a total of 52 full-sized wine bottles. I also wanted to see how many beer cans it would hold however due to the wavy shape of the 8 full-sized shelfs, only the bottom two had the proper grating structure to support cans. The other 8 would allow them to fall through. Each of the bottom two shelfs would hold 2 rows of 4 cans and an addition two cans on the side. If you’re looking at a mixed-capacity that would equal to a Toal of 48 wine bottles on the top 8 shelfs and 20 cans on the bottom two shelves.

It’s a taller machine, and yet it still fit comfortably just about anywhere I planned to put it. The outer dimensions measure 17″ wide, 24″ deep and a whipping 49.5″ tall.

Cooling

The Newair NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler uses a very simple panel to adjusting the cooling on the machine. A HUGE improvement over the previous versions I tested is that the control panel is located on the outside of the machine instead of within. This makes adjusting the settings a breeze without having to release cold air to do so. The control panel allows you to adjust the temperature range anywhere between 41 degrees to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. When adjusting the temperature the control panel will display the desired cooling temp. Once done, the panel will then display the actual internal temperature of the cooler.

The outside temperate was 82 at the time of my setup and it took the cooler only 41 minutes to cool itself from an internal temperature of 70 all the way down to 41 degrees. Using a calibrated thermometer I also calculated the internal temperature from the center shelf of the machine and compared it to the front display and was happy to see it was only a 1 degree difference. I also decided to monitor the machine to see how much it varied during the temperature fluctuations throughout the day. On this particular day the morning started out at 59 degrees with a high of 81. The internal temperature only fluctuated between 41 and 44 degreed throughout the day showing the cooling power of this cooler as well as its consistency.

Features / Convenience

I covered the control panel for the Newair NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler above, but there are a few more minor settings. First, after you set the temperature you can also lock the buttons in place by holding the up and down arrows. Holding them down again for a few seconds unlocks the control panel. This protects against any accidental adjusting. There is also a power, C/F toggle switch and a light button on the front of the panel. The lights themselves are a nice, subtle blue. There is a large upper blue LED light strip as well as multiple LEDs located throughout the cooler. The only downfall here is that there is only 1 brightness setting. It also would be nice to have a setting where the lights are completely off, but turn on once the door is opened to illuminate the inside.

It’s also a very quiet machine, emitting almost no sound at all. The updated doors on the front of the Shadow series are absolutely gorgeous as they look a deep black from some angles and then completed reflective from others. At night, the doors are mostly reflective with a slight illumination from the interior LEDs which gives off such an elegant look and feel. Surprisingly the door isn’t as prone to fingerprints as the previous versions either. One added little bonus is the lock mechanism found at the bottom of the cooler to keep unwanted guests from drinking the good stuff.

Overview

The Newair NWC062BK00 Shadow Series Wine Cooler is a huge step in both elegance, design, and efficiency. Not only does it look good, but it operates at such a high level that it easily surpasses the other two wine fridges I currently have in my house and has instantly become my favorite. And boy, does it look good. It also holds A TON of product! It’s a bigger machine, however I have one almost the same size that holds about 2/3 of the amount of wine bottles. The fact that I can’t store more cans is a bit of a fall-off for me. However, this product is listed as a wine cooler, not a beer can cooler so I won’t be taking any points off there. It’s just worth mentioning.

Shipping / Unboxing

As with all my experiences with Newair, shipping was a breeze. The product was shipped to me via FedEx and arrived 2 days after my order was placed. The box arrived undamaged.

The box is surrounded by plastic straps and once removed you can just slide the top of the box right off the product which is surrounded by styrofoam and wrapped in plastic to prevent against any shipping mistreating.

Setup

Setup is as easy as it gets. Depending on what battery option you decide on. I went with the Newair battery so no adapter was needed. I simple slid the battery in one of the two battery compartments, plugged the machine in and let it do it’s thing. It’s that simple. If you decide to use your third party battery the only different could be installing the provided adapter that matches your battery’s brand before popping your battery in. After that you use the front panel to set the mode to either ECO which uses less power, or MAX which obviously goes all out. You can then set the desired internal cooling temperature to anywhere between -4 degrees and 64 and the machine will do the rest.

I also testing the Newair battery charge times just to see how it does. With the machine powered on it takes 4 hours to completely charge the battery from flat. With the machine powered off it only took 2 hours. There is an indicator on both the front of the machine and also on the battery itself that you can use to monitor the charging process.

Storage

The product details list that you can store up to 28 x 16oz cans and 32 x 12oz cans. I decided to test this with a variety of difference sized cans and even though the cooling box looks rather small, I am happy to report the storage specs are accurate. The cooling unit takes up a ton of space, let’s be honest. But it’s also the main feature of this product so it gets a pass. This still leaves ample room for storage whether you are going on a road trip, quick camping trip, or hitting the dunes.

Cooling

The Cooling on this little machine is phenomenal. It’s not a huge space to cool making the cooling process extremely quick to get to temperature and stay there. For this test I started with the cooler at room temperature, 68 degrees to be exact. I then powered on the machine and monitored how long it took to get to 30 degrees while the box was empty. It took 12 minutes total to cool the machine down to 30 degrees according to the temperature gauge on the front of the machine. I also placed an external thermometer inside the box to check the accuracy and it read 28 degrees. Very impressive. Granted, it would likely take longer to cool if it was packed with non-chilled goods, I am still happy with the performance here. I also went ahead and ran through a number of different temperatures to see how close the external gauge was to my calibrated thermometer and the gauge was always within 4 degrees which is very acceptable. The product states that it can be adjusted from -4 degrees all the way up to 64. I tested the -4 option and shockingly it quickly took the internal temperature down to 0 degrees on my external thermometer. In summary, this thing can chill very quickly.

Features

White the machine’s functions are simple, there are actually some pretty cool built in features. First, the cooler comes with an option 12V cigarette plug that will both power the machine and charge the battery when it’s plugged into your vehicle. This was not something I was aware of, and certainly a nice added bonus especially for those outdoor trips.

One of the biggest features on the Newair Jobsite cooler is that you can plug in various other brand’s batteries. Think about all those batteries that come with your drills, impact drivers, and flashlights. Using an adapter you can easily use batteries from Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee, and Dewalt. Or in my case, I went with the standard Newair battery. The cooler has a large compartment that fits two batteries so you can get the most extended use out of each. There is also a really cool little added USB port on the front panel where you can use the power from the battery to charge/power a small USB device.

Second, while super minor, it’s a great addition as the cooler actually features a good-sized, bright LED inside the cooling compartment itself. This is the first time I have seen this on a portable machine like this before. The LED easily illuminates the entire compartment making it easy to find that specific drink or food item you are looking for.

With the focus on portability, the Newair Jobsite cooler features heavy duty wheels and a pull handle for easy transportation. Along with this the cooler actually features two drink areas on top of the battery compartment that will keep your drinks in place.

Unboxing and Setup

The Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00 was shipped lightning speed. I received a shipping notification only a few hours after my order was placed and received the package 2 days later via Fedex. The Humidor is packed in thick walls of cardboard with plastic straps surrounding it. There were no dents or dings on the box itself.

Unboxing the humidor was a breeze. Once you cut each strap the top of the box simply slides off the top the humidor exposing a layer of protectant foam. Under the foam is a very thin foam tissue which covers the humidor to protect from any scratches. After that you just need to take the bottom cardboard n. piece out and you can open the humidor and begin your inspection. Each draw has a small peice of tape on the bottom which holds the Boveda box in place during shipment. Outside of removing these and the manual packet from the inside of the humidor you are ready to rock.

Seasoning

The Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00 states that the humidor is ready to go and there is no need for seasoning. In theory, this is great, but I decided to put that to the test. I added a few shot glasses full of distilled water into the humidor and checked the humidity over 72 hours. Before adding the shot glasses I started at 48%. After the first 2 hours I was at 55%. This only raised to 58% the next day and settled at 61% after 72 hours. While this could work, it would also eat up a ton of humidity from your Boveda packs when you first insert them. It will also take a matter of days for the humidity to stabilize. Because of this I decided to do a very gentle wipe down of all exposed cedar with distilled water. The very next day. I stabilized at 75% with the shot glasses so I decided to remove them and get busy. 

Adjusting The Humidor

There is very little adjustment needed on the Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00. Once it’s seasoned and ready to go all you have to do is decide what temperature you want, and go for it. To adjust the temperature you simple use the up and down arrows on the front of the control panel until you see the desired value on the front display. You can also switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by holding the light button on the panel for a few seconds. Not the most intuitive user experience, however it works well if you can remember how to adjust it. After setting the humidor will always display the current temperature of the inside of the humidor. It only took about 20 minutes for my temperature to stabilize, however this may be different for you depending on your ambient temperature. I also tested how accurate this is in the sections that follow.

Storage and Features

The Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00 is a very large humidor with a ton of storage space. At 17.72 x 16.93 x 29.13 this beast of a humidor comes in at a whopping 56lbs. The humidor features 4 shelves and two drawers. The top three shelves feature a small, cedar box on the bottom of each shelf. These boxes slide out and allow you to place Boveda boxes full of your favorite Boveda packs. In the picture below I sampled a standard Boveda envelope as I was still awaiting my Boveda packs to arrive, but can happily say that the boxes fit in absolutely perfect. The cedar box is easy to slide in and out and the vents allow ample room for humidification to circulate smoothly. I also really like that Newair was forward thinking enough to make sure these were added on the top three shelves as humid air is much heavier and will fall to the bottom of the humidor. Couple this setup with the fans used in the heating/cooling element and it makes for a perfect setup for ideal air circulation. One note to add, I found it difficult to store even the slimmest of boxes on each shelf when the Boveda boxes were in place. This caused me to have to remove one in order to fit a box on the shelf directly under it. Not a deal breaker at all, but worth noting.

The four flat shelves also feature a really unique ability to insert small wooden pegs into in order to adjust the layout of each shelf and also keep single cigars in place so that they won’t slide around or fall of the sides as you pull each shelf out. This is a great little feature and works really will. In my opinion it may have been better to also add small wooden sides to each shelf to prevent single spillage, but this option also allows for a little extra space when storing full boxes. The biggest issue I had was that the peg holes were very tight and difficult to get the pegs in. Once in, I no longer wanted to move them so they’ll likely stay put as is.

The bottom two drawers give plenty of space for both singles and full boxes. The bottom-most draw is slightly less deep due to the heating and cooling element, but has some great permanent dividers perfect for storing a ton of single cigars.

While I get into this later the Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00 features built in temperature control as well which keeps your cigars at the perfect temperature all year round. The front panel allows you to easily hit the up and down buttons to adjust your target temperature, a light button to turn on and off the built-in LED light, and a settings button that allows you to lock the controls if needed. The interior LED is actually quite bright and I was impressed with just how much light it put out. An item to note is that the light comes from a single LED on the top of the humidor so as you load it up, more light will be blocked from reaching the bottom.

Quality of Temperature and Humidity Control

The Newair x Boveda NCH500BS00 features a heating and cooling element built into the humidor which is perfect if you live in an area like mine where the temperature fluctuates often throughout the year. It is recommended for best operation to store the humidor in an ambient temperature range between 68 and 77 degrees. If you do this you can easily adjust the humidor’s internal temperature anywhere between 54 and 72 degrees. For my setup, I set the temperature to a stable 70 degrees. After 24 hours I tested the temperature using an external thermometer on both the top and bottom shelves. While the front panel read 70 degrees the top shelve reported back 72 while the bottom shelf was a perfect 70. No points taken there as the accuracy was spot-on. As for the humidity. I started with using only a single 69% 320g boveda pack on the middle shelf. After 24 hours I saw a dip in humidity from 69% down to 64%. After adding another and letting it sit for 24 hours I landed at 68%. The perfect setup for me is one pack in each of the 3 Boveda boxes under the shelves which kept me between 68% and 70% over the 72 hours I tested with using my external hygrometer. This is such a small fluctuation and really speaks volumes to the seal and air circulation of the humidor.

Final Thoughts

It’s very easy to see why the cigar community was anxiously awaiting the release of the collaboration between two of the most trusted names in the cigar community. Add them, and check them every so often for dryness. Replace when dry. It doesn’t get easier than that. Shipping/Unboxing

This NewAir Chest freezer came packaged in the usual, heavily padded box, well-maintained box. This thing is a beast and NewAir tends to take extra care with shipping so the box is quite a bit larger than the actual machine.

Unboxing it however, is a breeze. There are a few plastic straps surrounding the exterior of the box. Once cut, the entire top of the box can be pulled right off the machine itself. After doing so you notice a thick layer of foam surrounding every inch of the machine. Under the foam is a light foam fabric which prevents any scratches to the surface of the freezer.

Setup

With most of the products we have reviewed from NewAir one thing has been very consistent, ease of setup. And this Chest Freezer is no exception. First, I had to remove quite a few small areas that had extra padding taped to the surface and interior of the machine. After that, I removed the tape from the interior basket which held it in place during shipping. I removed the instruction manual from inside the machine and then unraveled the power cord which was neatly tucked underneath the freezer. After that it was as easy as plugging it in and let it start doing its thing. Note: The instruction manual does state to let the unit sit for a day before powering on.

Storage

The NewAir Chest Freezer (NFT070GN00) offers a ton of storage room. The cooling unit is small and condensed to one side of the machine allowing for deep, stacking storage and as smaller area with basket for the items you need to access quickly, or more often. While the freezer feels compact from the outside it holds an impressive amount of product.

At its deepest point, the freezer is 26 inches deep.

At its widest point, the freezer is 31 inches across.

Cooling

The NewAir NewAir Chest Freezer (NFT070GN00) Review cools EXTREMELY FAST. I say that with refrain as well. I am seriously shocked with how quickly this freezer cooled. Within 30 minutes of powering the freezer on it had completely cooled to 30 degrees. You can actually see condensation start to build in the bottom of the machine within 5 minutes of powering it on. As an alternate test, I decided to let some of my freezer items aside and let them cool to about 50 degrees. After that I tossed them into the freezer which filled it about half way up to see how the temperatures would fluctuate. There was only about a 2 degree variant which only lasted about 10 minutes after being filled which was way more likely due to the lid being open than it was the warm product being added. Needless to say, I am extremely impressed with the cooling power of this freezer.

Features

I’ll start with one quick feature. The NewAir NewAir Chest Freezer (NFT070GN00) carries some hefty, very heavy-duty hinges which are not only tough, but very easy to open and close. These will stand the test of time. They also comfortable hold the lid in the open position so that you can easily load the unit without having to constantly open the lid.

There is a small LED light located in the lid of the freezer which automatically turns on when opened. While I do appreciate the effort here, one area of improvement would be something either larger or brighter as it doesn’t offer the most light when the area is darkened.

The control panel is simple, yet useful. There is an LED display of the current internal temperature of the unit which is very helpful. There are also setting which allows you to adjust the temperature to your needs. One HUGE note here is the range offered in cooling is massive as the unit can adjust anywhere between 50 degrees all the way down to a rocking -14.8 degrees. There is also a fast freezing option which injects extra cold air into the unit which speeds up the time it takes to deep freeze your goods.

There is also a great added internal drain plug which will allow you to empty any built-up condensation or spillage with ease. This is such a small feature, but one that is incredibly useful and often overlooked.

The paint, oh the paint. It’s great, and I and glad that the unit is offered in multiple colors to fit your needs however the paint show fingerprints extremely easy. This is a small thing, but I felt it was worth mentioning as I know NewAir often features fingerprint resistant materials and finishes.

One last note is the exhaust setup. Keep in mind that the exhaust for the cooling system is located on the bottom right of the unit. You’ll need to make sure you set this up in an area that will allow the air to easily escape from this area without being block.

Shipping / Box Opening:

The shipping from NewAir is always a breeze and I haven’t even had an issue. The product was shipped via Fedex and delivered to my house directly from the company in a matter of 2 days. The product came in a simple brown cardboard box. Once removed the product was protected on all sides by inch-thick walls of foam. Underneath the foam the product was then wrapped in plastic to protect against any abrasions.

The shelf and ice scoop were taped inside to prevent them from flying around during shipping and the cord was nicely wrapped, taped, and tucked inside the machine. There was no damage at all. I have actually always been impressed with the care NewAir takes in packing their items. It doesn’t matter how big or how small, they do everything it takes to ensure safe delivery.

Setup / Product Quality:

Setup was a breeze. I apologize for my went finger prints on the photo below, however I was very excited to get this machine going. It really works right out of the box. Simply plug the machine in, fill the reservoir with water and turn it on. The machine does the rest!

The side of the NewAir ice maker houses the cooling mechanism for the machine itself. It’s important to note its location so that you can make sure you use it in an area where the fan opening is exposed so that it can properly expel any heat generated by the machine itself. This particular machine has fans on both the left and right side of the panels, however the right side is in use more often than the left. One note here, this updated version of the machine I had previously is much, much more quiet when it operates even considering the additional fan.

Once you load the NewAir ice maker the machine and power it on it will immediately start to pull the water into the machine and start the ice making progress. There is no hesitation. The reservoir actually holds a significant amount of water too so the machine can run for a few hours without any help.

Settings:

This NewAir ice maker is the most simple machine I have ever used. Really there are only a few steps. First you fill the machine with water as mention above. Note the max fill line so that you don’t overfill the reservoir. Then you place the included ice basket into the top of the ice maker.

Then it’s a matter of turning the machine on. On the previous model I had there was a size selection which would allow you to select two different sizes of ice. On this model, there is only one, however I feel like the ice this machine produces is much more usable and stable than the previous one. There are also two additional notification lights on the control panel which will alert you once the ice maker is full, and once the ice maker is out of water. The power button will light up white while operating and red if the machine needs cleaning, the ice is full, or the machine is out of water.

Ice Quantity:

Quality and Quantity of ice is where this NewAir machine really shines. This machine kicks out a load of every couple of seconds. There is a gear mechanism in the top of the machine that constantly rotates and kicks out small, nugget shaped ice cubes upon each rotation. It’s a small machine, but it’s a beast and I am very impressed with how quickly it creates ice. The image below represents how much ice the machine created in just half an hour. Note: a cool function that is useful in hot weather is when the ice begins to melt in the basket the water is recycled back into the reservoir to become more ice.

Ice Quality:

The ice quality is incredible. First, it’s pretty hot here as we have been in 100’s for almost 50 days straight now. While my house isn’t as hot, it’s still hot and this machine still works like a champ. The ice it creates is about 1/3 of an inch thick, cubbed in nugget format. Perfect for adding to drinks or even munching on as it crushes very easily. It reminds me of the famous Sonic ice they use in their drinks. For those who don’t have a Sonic near you, it’s the best ice in the world and this NewAir machine is the first that I have seen that comes close to it. The ice isn’t very clear, but it doesn’t need to be. The photo below is the amount of ice created in 5 minutes of use.

Ease of Use:

Simply put, anyone can use this machine. It’s really just two steps: fill it, power it on. The you let the machine do the rest. I guess you can add a third step of putting the ice in your glass if you want, but that one’s a given. A few side notes here that are worth mentioning. First, the entire top of the machine is clear which allows you to see just how much ice has been created so you know when it’s time to dump the basket. The basket in this model is actually much larger than my previous one which allows more ice to build up quicker between dumping out the ice. One small upgrade in this machine over my previous one that makes a huge difference is there is a small opening or spout between the basket and the interior wall of the machine that allows you to fill the machine with water without having to remove the basket.

Final Thoughts:

The NewAir NIM026MBN0 is a perfect, portable machine that fits on any counter. I actually took it with me on a recent trip to a cabin and used it just about every day for an endless supply of fresh ice for our drinks. It’s incredibly easy to use, compact, and makes a very large amount of ice in a very short time making it a great companion to have around during these hot summer months.

Shipping/Unboxing

As usual, NewAir sent the NCR053SS00 Refrigerator over to me in record time. I think the shipping from west coast via Fedex took about 2 days. The unit came in a very large box with no damage. The box is wrapped in four plastic straps.

Once you cut those straps the top of the box slides right off to expose the unit which is wrapped in thin plastic foam to protect against scratches and a larger outer wall of thick foam to protect against any dents or dings. The packaging on this product is brilliant.

Setup

The NCR053SS00 Refrigerator is a breeze to setup. Inside the unit you will find three, heavy, rubber-covered shelves, a packet with instructions, keys, and shelf mounts, as well as the unit’s door handle. The handle screws on easily with the two included screws. After that you will need to use the shelf mounts in all four corners of the machine to mount each shelf. The shelfs are made of aluminum which I feel much safer handling than plastic.

There are at least 30 different heights you can use to mount the shelves so it’s very flexible depending on your storage needs. Once you drop the mounts in all you have left is to place the shelves and plug the unit in. Located in the back of the machine is a panel where you can set the internal temperature, fahrenheit or celsius, and the internal LED light.

Storage

Don’t let the pictures fool you, the NCR053SS00 Refrigerator is a beast! The shelf capacity fits 7 cans across and 7 cans deep or 49 cans per shelf! I set up mine so that I can fit 49 x 12oz cans on each of the first two shelves and 49 x 16oz cans on the bottom two shelves. In the image below I added a 72oz Yeti thermos for comparison to the bottom shelf.

A big plus to this is that there isn’t a lot of extra bulk. The fridge is actually flush on all sides including the back so it will fit right up against any wall.

Cooling

I thought the storage is where the NCR053SS00 Refrigerator would shine, but the cooling is even more impressive. Because of the 100% steel interior construction the unit cools down extremely fast and hold temperature better than most fridges I have in my possession. Without anything inside the unit took about 20 minutes to cool to my desired 47 degrees inside. The unit can be set between 32 and 72 degrees. After filling it up completely on every shelf it took about 2 hours to get down to 47 degrees. Using an external thermometer I measured the variance over 2 full days and the temperature only fluctuated 3 degrees which was one above and two below the setting I had inputted. Not only does it cool quickly but it maintains temperature flawlessly.

Features

The fridge features a bottom locking mechanism to keep unwanted guests out of your snacks. It also has a metal kick plate which is great for added durability. The entire interior of the fridge is lined with steel making cooling and maintaining temperature much easier on the machine. There is also a great added LED light which turns on to illuminate the interior of the fridge when it is open. I think this would be considered a feature however, I found it slightly inconvenient at times, especially when loading the fridge. When you open the door the fridge has a very hard pull to automatically close. It almost slams shut which makes you have to prop it open to load the fridge if you don’t want to hold it open with your free hand. A great added featured to this I found however is that if you leave the fridge door open for too long a loud beep is played to remind you that you need to close it up.

Overview

This is a great, indoor or outdoor machine. I have my NewAir NCR053SS00 Refrigerator setup outside cause we spend most of our summers outback and even in the 90+ temps we have been reaching already, the machine doesn’t fail. It’s heavy, its built like a tank, and it holds temps. I mean, the only real downfall it is isn’t as pretty as some of the other models so it comes down to if you prefer aesthetics or performance. One item to note is that the front of the fridge actually shows fingerprints pretty easily. It’s minor, but worth mentioning.

Unboxing and Setup

The NEEDONE humidor was sent to me very quickly. It arrived in a single, large cardboard box with absolutely no dents or dings on the outside. It was very nicely packed. Once the tap was sliced the humidor is then contained in an easily removable outer shell of styrofoam to protect the humidor for any handling. After removing the styrofoam the humidor is now free. One thing I really liked about this humidor is the hidden handle which not only cleans up the look of the humidor but also speeds up the setup process as I know that humidor handles have been pain-points in the past with out brands. The humidor comes with 3 open cedar shelves and one large bottom drawer. All are already installed and ready to rock. All you need to do is remove the film from the built-in hygrometer, plug in the humidor, and season and you are ready to rock.

Seasoning

Seasoning the humidor is the same process as any humidor I have owned in the past. I usually fill a small dish with distilled water, grab a terrycloth towel and get busy. I removed each shelf which were very easy to take out of the NEEDONE humidor. I then dipped the towel in the distilled water and gently coated each cedar area with an ample amount of water. After that it was as simple as putting the shelves back in and letting the humidity stabilize. I repeated this process 24 hours later just to insure that the cedar had properly absorbed enough humidity to acclimate. Now, we’re ready.

Settings/Adjusting the Humidor

After seasoning all that is left is plugging in the humidor and adjusting the temperature. The soft-touch control panel can humidor can adjust the temperature from 54 to 74 degrees. The simple panel allows you to simply raise or lower the temperature with a push of a button. There is also an additional button that allows you to turn on and off the internal white LED light to locate your cigars with ease. One note, the cooling mechanism in this humidor does run louder than ones I have used in the past. Its not a big deal and far from a deal breaker, just something to keep in consideration if you are planning on using it in a quiet environment.

Storage

The NEEDONE 48 liter humidor comes with 3 open cedar shelves and 1 large cedar drawer. The description states that it can comfortably fit about 300 cigars and I agree with that. I was able to fit at least 2 boxes per shelf with room for about another 20-30 cigars on each. The draw easily fit 70 cigars. You can easily move the shelves around the humidor to create even more storage options as the bottom of the humidor can easily be used as an extra shelf.

Temperature and Humidity Control Quality

While Temperature and Humidity are the key component to any humidor, these are often the items where quality quickly deteriorates when companies worry more about look and feel over their core functionalities. The NEEDONE 48 liter humidor struggles a bit in this area. First, the temperature control is way off. What I mean by this is I had the humidor set at 65 degrees and after a few days the humidor was clocked in between 67 and 73. While this is still great temperature control considering my house is at about 78 degrees, the accuracy of the temperate setting needs some work. However, the temperature did stay within range so it’s just one of those things where you need to understand the setting is a few degrees off. Now when it comes to humidity which is the more important component here the NEEDONE humidor does very well. The internal hygrometer would register between 63% and 66% while my Boveda butlers would register between 65% and 67% consistently which is EXACTLY where I want them. While the temperature setting is a bit temperamental, the humidity control in this humidor functions very well.

Final Thoughts

The NEEDONE humidor works well, with a few hitches. First, it hold humidity very well which is the number one factor in if a humidor is worth its value. The temperature control is a little wonky and operates a bit louder than others. At the NEEDONE’s low price point I feel this is a great humidor for someone looking to transfer from standard desktop humidors to something larger, with more features, that won’t break the bank. In fact, you get a ton of bang for your buck here as the humidor is priced far below what I would consider a good value for it.

Shipping/Unboxing

Shipping is always a breeze with NewAir. First of all, they usually ship FEDEX which in my opinion, has the lightest hands in the delivery game. The unit arrived 2 days after it was shipped in a large brown cardboard box. The box was secured with plastic straps to ensure nothing was loose, and arrived with no damage at all to the outer box. Once you remove the straps, you can slide the box off the top of the unit and find the NewAir NWB057BSD0 Refrigerator nested in a Styrofoam container, surrounded by styrofoam sleeves, while the unit itself is covered in plastic to protect against any scratched (in the follow photo I removed the plastic and styrofoam).

Setup

Seeing up the NewAir NWB057BSD0 Refrigerator requires almost nothing! The unit is fully assembled and the drawers are pre-installed. The only item that needs work is the handle. To installed the handle all you need to do is peel back the rubber seal on the inside of the door, locate the two pre-drilled holes, linsert the two supplied screws in each hole and lineup the door handle. After that it’s a matter of tightening the screws and you are done.

I used this outside as a standalone unit so the only other step I had to do is adjust the leveling feet on the bottom by twisting each one to make sure the unite was completely level. It’s really to plug in. One step you may need to take is adding humidification control to the bottom wine portion of the unit. There is a small, removable dish under the bottom shelf which allows you to place humidification control (such as humidification beads in my case) into the unit to control the humidity levels in the bottom wine portion. After that, you are ready to plug the unit in and let it rock.

Storage

This little beast holds a ton of beverages. First, the top two shelves. These accurately hold exactly 24 – 12oz cans perfectly. They also slide out just a bit so that you can get your hands back there and reach those pesky cans hidden in the back. NewAir actually provides an alternate top shelf as well that allows for 16 – 12oz cans to be stored on the top, then an open space is utilized by allowing 16 – 12oz cans on the second shelf along with 8 – 16 oz cans (or taller), or bottles. This is great flexibility.

The bottom are features three vented, cedar shelves. Both the vents, and cedar are important components as you will want to control the humidity in the bottom area if you are storing wine over long periods of time. I was able to comfortably fit 3 wine bottles on the top shelf, 3 on the second shelf, and 5 stacked on the bottom shelf. That’s a lot of wine. In the picture below the bottles are actually the large-based style bottles that are about 30% wider than a standard wine bottle and they still fit perfectly.

Cooling

I actually let this cool empty overnight to let the material acclimate to the cold before adding any beverages to the NewAir NWB057BSD0 Refrigerator. Empty, it took the top area about 15 minutes to drop down to 45 degrees and the bottom area about 35 minutes to drop down to 50. These are my ideal settings so these are what I used for testing. I added a calibrated digital temperature gauge to the top shelf on the top area and the middle shelf on the bottom area to check the temperature accuracy and I am happy to report that in both areas the temperature was within 2 degrees of the unit’s setting. The next day I loaded room temperature drinks to the fridge. My thought process here was to gauge how long it took to cool each section after warm drinks were loaded in the worst case scenario. The top section reached 45 degrees about 3 hours after loading while the bottom section reached 30 degrees in almost an hour. Both performed very well. As the temperatures have gotten warmer here (mid-80’s) I also have been keeping tabs on how much the temperature fluctuates within the unit. The top area will only fluctuate about 3 degrees during the day and the bottom unit sits consistently at 50. Another impressive win for the NewAir NWB057BSD0 Refrigerator.

Features/Convenience

The two separate zones are incredible, and truly separate. What I mean by that is they are completely blocked off from on another allowing you to control not only the temperature in each section, but also the humidity using the hidden, removable dish under the bottom shelf in the wine section of the fridge. The front touch panel is elegant, lighted, and very simple to use. There is a setting to toggle between celsius and fahrenheit, a up/down setting as well as display for both sections, and a light toggle button which allows the user to turn the blue interior LED lights which are located at the top of the fridge and above the bottom section to the on setting with full brightness, mid-brightness, and off. Another note is that the temperature setting display will show you what the temperatures are set at while you adjusting, but will show the current temperature of each section when you are not adjusting the setting.

During the pandemic my wife and I redid our entire back patio. We enclosed it, added a TV, dining area, couches, plants, lighting, and fans. Essentially we created an outdoor living room so that we could escape our house without ever leaving. The minute we’d get off work (we both still work from home) we’d venture out back and stay there until it was bed time. Shipping/Box Opening

As always, shipping from NewAir was cake. I received a shipping notification from NewAir and my NCI080SS00 unit arrived 3 days later. The box was in great condition. Upon opening the Ice Maker is surrounded by a plastic protective bag which is then surrounded but 1 inch thick Styrofoam on the top, bottom and corners which provides ample protection to make sure the item arrived in one piece. After removing the shipping protection all stainless steel areas are coated in a film to protect any damage which was easy to remove. Something worth mentioning is that not only was it easy to remove, but it came off in one piece without leaving anything behind. 

Setup/Product Quality

NewAir states that the steel is fingerprint resistant however I do feel like I was able to make quite a few smudges while setting up the machine. I have all steel appliances and this machine does produce fingerprints slightly less easily than my other appliances. 

The setup process was pretty easy. First, I installed the rubber o-ring into the inside of the ice tray which allows any melted or excess water to dump out of the system. This then runs to a outlet host in the back of the machine (see example below this paragraph. I hooked this up to a line that feeds directly into my grass since I am using it outside, however I suspect you will hook this up to any drain feed you have under your sink if you use it in your kitchen. I then hooked up the water inlet using a quick release valve and waters supply from my outdoor faucet. If using a smaller one like I did this will connect directly into the back of the Ice Maker (see example below this paragraph). Then you open the water source and check for leaks. After this, you simply plug the machine in and it’s good to go.

The build quality is fantastic. The NCI080SS00 is solid, heavy, and very stable. I found that even the plastic components felt thick and durable. There is no double that this machine will last quite some time. One note is that the only item that I found that isn’t as durable as I would have hoped is the water inlet component in the rear of the machine. I am used to something a bit thicker, or even made of copper. I don’t think this will be an issue for most people, however if I ever decide I need to adjust the placement of my machine out back I will need to make note of completely removing the water source before doing so to make sure I do not tug and break anything there.

Settings

The settings on the NCI080SS00 Ice maker are pretty straight forward. There is an LED panel on the bottom of the machine which allows you to easily toggle any of these settings. First, there is a power button to toggle the machine on and off. Holding this button for a few seconds will actually keep the cooling on, but will stop the machine from producing ice. When the machine is processing ice a lighted image of ice cubes will appear. Every time the ice cubes drop a small stumble of what looks like ice in a can will display. I had to actually research what this was as it wasn’t too obvious, but this is the machine de-icing after each cycle so that it doesn’t freeze up. You can actually set the ice thickness on this machine which is a really cool feature by using the ”+” and “-“ symbols on the panel. Once the machine gets full a symbol of a can full of ice will appear and the machine will automatically stop producing ice. There is also a button that allows you to set a timer on when the ice machine will kick on, similar to a timer on a coffee maker. There is a secondary setting that you can also set which will allow you to adjust how long the ice maker will produce ice.

Ice Quantity

This is where the machine just completely excels. First, NewAir states that the NCI080SS00 will create 40 cubes in just 15-30 minutes. In my case it produced this in about 10 minute and kept churning out ice every 10 minutes or so after that. The entire basin was full within a single evening. For my personal use, I’d never have a use for that much ice, however in my case, this is perfect for those summer days when friends come over and we quickly need to fill up ice chests and keep them full. Now translated to a kitchen/restaurant environment and I personally think that this machine can probably keep up with a small full-service restaurant. I can honestly say I was impressed with the speed in which this machine created ice. I have a smaller table-top ice maker that we normally use and the NCI080SS00 blows it out of the water. The added ice scoop that the machine comes with is a bonus. Any smaller and it wouldn’t really be practical for single drink making, however a larger one would have been great for easily filling bags or ice chests. 

Ice Quality

After I first started the machine, it created decently clear ice. It wasn’t the clearest, however it was clearer than any ice maker I have personally used. After the first 2 or so hours it produces much more cloudy, white ice. I figured it could be trapped air, so I let it run for a day however the longer it ran the more cloudy the ice became. It’s still not as cloudy as standard ice, but I do wish that it would have been closer to what the ice maker had promised. The picture below is about the average clarity I get from this machine. Note, I may be doing something wrong, or may just need to run the ice maker for a matter of a few days. This is a new machine and with that there may be a break-in period to get all the air out of the water lines. I will update this review should anything change. 

Ease of Use

Really, there isn’t much you need to do once you get the NCI080SS00 ice maker up and running. It just does it thing. It will continuously pump out all the ice you need. There isn’t much maintenance, at least not yet. Another add-on item here is just how quiet this machine operates. I have it outside in an open area so it doesn’t really matter how loud it is, however I can’t hear it at all. For the sake of the review I sat next to this machine for over an hour as it was filling and outside of the routine ice-dump sound, the machine itself made little to no noise at all. Perfect for a nice quiet kitchen.

Final Thoughts

Not only is the NewAir NCI080SS00 a machine, but it’s a stallion. This machine is probably a bit over-kill for my needs, however I know I can rest easy knowing that I will always have enough ice for any of my entertaining needs. It’s a simple installation, beautiful quality build, and carries just about any settings I feel I would need. While I do wish the ice produced was as clear as the pictures online suggested, I do know that operating temperatures, condition, and water treatment in my area could greatly affect that. This machine will be the staple for our summer evenings out back.

Unboxing and Setup

The NCH250N201 was shipped very quickly to me. And this is something I kinda want to touch on. Anytime I have ever ordered or supplied any product from NewAir it has always been shipped 2 day air and I receive it very quickly. This is their standard and seems to be the case with just about all their products. The product arrived safe from damage in a large brown box. Once I removed the plastic bands and opened the box I was greeted with the humidor wrapped in plastic and completed surrounded by foam pads to avoid any dings or dents. This is my fourth humidor from NewAir and while accidents happen during shipping, I have yet to experience one.

Inside the humidor was a bag which contained the instruction manual, a plastic dish for whatever humidification device you prefer, as well as keys to lock the humidor. The humidor is a decent weight and also to note is that the heating/cooling element is quite large so it does take up some room behind the outside of the humidor. Once I placed the humidor where I wanted to it was just a matter of plugging it in and getting going. The humidor comes completely assembled so it was from box to seasoning within 10 minutes.

Seasoning

Seasoning this humidor was a breeze. Since it is a smaller humidor all that was needed was to simply apply distilled water to the exposed cedar in the drawers and shelves. To do this, I pour a small bowl of distilled water, dipped a terrycloth towel in it, and then gently applied moisture to the cedar. Each of the shelves and the drawer fully slide out so it didn’t take long to get it all covered. I like to use heartfelt humidification beads so I then filled the supplied container with beads, added distilled water, and placed this on the top of my humidor. A note here is that I always place my humidification devices on the top of my humidors since dense air is heavier therefore it falls to the bottom. This is likely not needed since the humidor itself does a great job of circulating the air within it each time the heating/cooling element kicks on. I then let this stand overnight and then re-apply moisture if needed. In the case of the NCH250N201 I did not need a second coat.

Adjusting the Humidor

Adjusting the NCH250N201 is just as easy as the setup. There is a soft-touch control panel in the front of the humidor that allows the user to turn on/off the included interior LED light, switch between fahrenheit and celsius, as well as adjust the desired temperature. The current setting will be displayed in the blue LED section while adjusting and while the humidor is resting it will display the current internal temperature. I have a larger NewAir humidor that I absolutely love and one small annoyance I have is that if I need to view or adjust the temperature I need to open the humidor releasing stored humidity to do so. With this one, all the controls are on the outside so there is no need to lose humidity during that process.

Storage

The NCH250N201 actually has a decent amount of storage space for its size. The humidor comes with two spanish cedar shelves and a spanish cedar pull out drawer. The shelves themselves can easily fit up to 2 boxes of cigars while the drawer can fit about 50 cigars snuggly. In my case, I have a few loose aromatic cigars in the drawer and utilize the rest of the storage space for my pipe tobacco and I don’t think there is a better sized humidor for this. I still have room to spare. While we are talking about the drawers I will mention that one con in the NCH250N201 is the drawers themselves seem a bit flimsy in comparison to the other models I own. I don’t think these will break or fall apart, but the small size of the humidor means the company needed to be sure to use thinner wood for its components.

Quality of Temperature and Humidity Control

The modest size of the NCH250N201 makes for greater control in my opinion. First, let me get this out of the way. The digital hygrometer that is supplied with the humidor is off quite a bit. I tried two different hygrometers from my personal collection, placed in the same location as the built-in one and the results were between 6% – 8% lower each time. I normally don’t rely on the built-in monitors so this isn’t a problem to me, but worth mentioning for those that do. Now let’s talk about this humidor’s strong suit. This is the most consistent humidor I own. I keep my pipe tobacco quite a bit drying that my normal humidor, usually around 60% and 60 degrees which is what I have the temperature set at. In the photo below you will see my hourly readings. Throughout the day the humidity will only fluctuate 1% to 2% which outperforms just about all my humidors. Note: I also used 69% boveda packs for testing with similar results at the higher humidity. Also worth mentioning is how accurate the temperature reading on this humidor is as I would only see a 1 degree variance between the displayed temperature and my device’s readings.

Final Thoughts

The NCH250N201 is a perfect cigar humidor for small spaces, office locations, or in my case pipe tobacco storage. It’s a small little beast that performs exceptionally. While it’s pricey, it’s also worth the investment considering the value of what we all store within them. The cons are minor, and the performance and features outweigh them significantly.
