Great job, as always. I’m planning on sharing this article with a couple of friends who are very new to smoking quality cigars. I think they will benefit, as I know I did and I’ve been smoking for 10 yrs.

Excellent reportage with some great cigar suggestions, but it’s a lot to wade through, especially if you’re speaking to newbies. I would have broken it up into a 3 or 4-part series. Well worth a bookmark, though.

For such a broad subject, you covered it well.

Even after considering all the above factors, sometimes I STILL don’t know what to smoke. In that case, I’ll make a totally arbitrary decision. If I don’t know what it is, I’ll grab a second stick I KNOW I like as a backup. More often than not, I wind up filing that backup stick back in my humidor.

Well done, every smart tobacconist will post this so they and their staffs remember how to guide uncertain smokers.

I think you covered all the bases but would add one idea and that is for a newer cigar lover to keep a brief note about cigars they liked along with the band. Maybe consult Perelman’s Encyclopedia about the ones they like to increase their knowledge and likely hood of continued good choices.
