I’m just getting into the last third of this stick, and I have to say, it’s got some kick to it. I haven’t felt this effect for a while, but the flavors are great if you like a strong woody, charry, and slightyly earthy take, which I do – sometimes, anyway. This would not make my normal rotation, but as an occasional ass-kicker, yeah, I’d keep a couple around.

Thanks for the read and the kind words Jason! I actually purchased a kit from a pool place out there on Roadrunner a long while back. Me and some friends started a first, very unguided brew and completely missed. We were about to try again when a buddy of mine’s car got stolen with the kit in there. So it’s totally something I am interested in! I met a few Las Cruces homebrewers at a few of the beer tastings at Billy Crews, any chance you’re one of em?

Great review. I just stumbled on your site while trying to decide if I wanted to buy the Oscuro since its older brother is so hard to find. We have a homebrew club up in Las Cruces. It usually breaks out into a cigar smoking party at the end of the night. You should come up and have some of our beer. Maybe drop some cigar knowledge on us.

Nice one Tony, I’m typically not a big fan of Oscuro cigars because I find most of them are built purely for strength and lack a lot of flavor. This one seems to be one of the few exceptions, I’m gonna have to try it out.
Nice pick on the pairing too, Chimay makes some good stuff.

And yes I’m back from Slackerdom (a.k.a. Florida) so no more slacking! lol

Might have to pick up a few of these next time out… I too have only smoked the colorado, and probably failed to try an oscuro because the colorado is so hard to pass up when I find them.
